05 Feb Workshops to work on recreational opportunities
Four workshops will be held over the next two months to brainstorm ways to improve recreational assets in the Great South Woods areas of the Adirondack Park.
The workshops will be hosted jointly by the Great South Woods project and the Adirondack Community-based Trails & Lodging System project.
At these “local knowledge workshops,” participants will use maps to share their knowledge of recreation destinations and existing trails and infrastructure. Then they will work together to develop ideas for trails and infrastructure that connects recreation opportunities on State lands with lodgings and other community features.
The meetings will be held on the following dates:
– February 9 at Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
– February 25 at the Old Forge Library in Old Forge, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
– March 2 at the Long Lake Central School in Long Lake, 6-8 p.m.
– March 16 at the Northville Central School in Northville, 6-8 p.m.
Each workshop will focus on a section of the Great South Woods planning area in the general vicinity of the meeting location, but participants are welcome share their knowledge and ideas for the entire Great South Woods area at any workshop, regardless of meeting location.
All workshops are open to the public and are located in wheelchair-accessible facilities. Please direct any requests for accommodations by emailing greatsouthwoods@gmail.com.
