23 Mar Second annual marketing summit a success
March 2017 – Lake Placid, adirondacks, usa — Despite the arrival of spring blizzard Stella, more than 150 people representing a wide range of regional businesses and organizations attended the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism’s (ROOST’s) second annual Adirondack Destination Marketing Summit on March 14.
As the region’s umbrella destination marketing organization, ROOST’s goal for the day-long summit held at the Conference Center in Lake Placid was to support partner businesses and organizations by providing current marketing strategies and insight from top-notch speakers. Workshop topics ranged from how to market to millennials, to why and how to use and maximize social media tools such as Instagram and Facebook.
The lunch keynote, presented by Tourism Current’s Sheila Scarborough, focused on cake. More specifically, she spoke on building an Adirondacks marketing layer cake. This can be achieved by businesses and ROOST supporting each other on social media channels and sharing each other’s information. The effect of binding individual promotional efforts is a collective stronger brand, she said.
