Save the date for the inaugural Guest Information Summit and Leave No Trace Workshop
With increased interest in hiking and outdoor recreation over the last few years, Lake Placid and the surrounding towns are at a pivotal point in continuing to provide excellent experiences in the Adirondacks, while combatting safety and overuse on our roads and trails. As the saying goes; it takes a village and we need your help!
Hotel front desk staff, marketing personnel, and business owners and employees who are in contact with guests and hikers, are frequently asked to make hiking recommendations. Please join the DEC and ROOST and help spread messages of safety, preparedness and best outdoor practices.
The summit will provide hiking options for all abilities, give staff the resources to send people to trails that match what they’re looking and prepared for as well as provide information on area regulations. The Leave No Trace workshop will provide invaluable information on wilderness ethics and how to speak to the public about best practices using the Authority of the Resource. Finally, a social media presentation will provide marketing personnel with strategies and messaging that is consistent with NYSDEC and ROOST.
Participants will leave with a binder full of resources and information to help guide guests on their best journey and experiences while here in the area.
