The following positions are currently available.

 


Sales Coordinator

 

Summary:

 

Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) is the destination marketing organization of Essex County leading economic growth through tourism. This position operates as part of a team responsible for generating economic growth through the group/meetings market. This includes sports, international and U.S based group business.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Sales

 

  • Serve as the liaison and maintain close working relations between ROOST and area hotels and attractions, including the Olympic facilities, and serve as the liaison between the client and these facilities.  Negotiate and close sales; creating contracts for clients and lodging properties. Coordinate with clients and manage all aspects pre-arrival of groups
  • Actively participate in industry organizations to showcase Lake Placid to relevant industry groups. Attend trade shows to promote the region as a group destination and assist partner organizations in promoting the region as a group and sporting competition destination.
  • Expose the region to international and U.S based group travel.
  • Coordinate familiarization (FAM) tours of the area including lodging partners, food and beverage and itinerary building.

 

Administrative/Support

 

  • Create, collect, and maintain records of RFP’s sent to local lodging properties to bid on groups.
  • Develop proposals to send to clients for review of local lodging property and activity pricing.
  • Develop and manage new group business and contacts and follow up on old/repeat business via phone, email and in person events.
  • Collect and record hotel room pick up for past groups
  • Assist with booking conference reservations through the ROOST reservation system.
  • General office support including answering phones, mailings, etc. 

 

Qualifications

 

  • General industry knowledge 
  • Proven sales or customer service experience within the hospitality industry, event coordination management or other relevant roles in the tourism sector. 
  • Outgoing and friendly personality. Willing to learn and travel.
  • Strong written, oral communication and organization skills and proficiency in technology.
  • Proficiency with Google workspace and Monday Sales CRM are preferred.
  • Willing to travel out of the region using all modes of transportation; travel can include nights and weekends.
  • Must have a valid license and/or passport.

 

This position is office based in Lake Placid at the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism.

Tupper Lake and Hamilton County Regional Manager

 

Summary:

 

We are currently seeking a dynamic Regional Manager to lead marketing initiatives and enhance community partnerships in Tupper Lake and Hamilton County.

 

Program of Work:

 

  • Project Manager for Tupper Lake and Hamilton County Marketing Initiatives
    • Collaborate in the creation and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies for Tupper Lake and Hamilton County.
    • Ensure consistency, cohesiveness, and timely execution of messaging and media placements by coordinating with various departments.
    • Engage with community partners and businesses to gather essential information, materials, prizes, etc., required for program success.
  • Social Media & Content Development
    • Managing the region’s existing and potential social media accounts.
    • Assist in developing web content, including writing story content and overseeing the events calendar.
    • Oversee updates to page content, ensuring alignment with the overall message and objectives.
  • Management of the Tupper Lake Information Center
    • Managing the Tupper Lake Information Center to ensure consistent operations and the timely fulfillment of information inquiries.
  • Communications and Community Outreach
    • Serve as a liaison between communities and ROOST, fostering collaborative partnerships with representatives from Hamilton County and Tupper Lake.
    • Attend meetings related to the region as a ROOST representative.
    • Regular communication with the regions on important information regarding ROOST’s program of work and the disbursement of other important information.
    • Provide the ROOST team with newsworthy tourism-related information for promotional PR efforts, content updates, etc.
    • Assist in destination management/development projects as applicable.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Work with team members to achieve set goals.
    • Attend regular staff meetings.
    • Generate daily activity report
    • Any other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in managing social media accounts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to represent the organization at community meetings.
  • Familiarity with destination marketing and knowledge of tourism-related initiatives a plus.
