Summary:
Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) is the destination marketing organization of Essex County leading economic growth through tourism. This position operates as part of a team responsible for generating economic growth through the group/meetings market. This includes sports, international and U.S based group business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales
- Serve as the liaison and maintain close working relations between ROOST and area hotels and attractions, including the Olympic facilities, and serve as the liaison between the client and these facilities. Negotiate and close sales; creating contracts for clients and lodging properties. Coordinate with clients and manage all aspects pre-arrival of groups
- Actively participate in industry organizations to showcase Lake Placid to relevant industry groups. Attend trade shows to promote the region as a group destination and assist partner organizations in promoting the region as a group and sporting competition destination.
- Expose the region to international and U.S based group travel.
- Coordinate familiarization (FAM) tours of the area including lodging partners, food and beverage and itinerary building.
Administrative/Support
- Create, collect, and maintain records of RFP’s sent to local lodging properties to bid on groups.
- Develop proposals to send to clients for review of local lodging property and activity pricing.
- Develop and manage new group business and contacts and follow up on old/repeat business via phone, email and in person events.
- Collect and record hotel room pick up for past groups
- Assist with booking conference reservations through the ROOST reservation system.
- General office support including answering phones, mailings, etc.
Qualifications
- General industry knowledge
- Proven sales or customer service experience within the hospitality industry, event coordination management or other relevant roles in the tourism sector.
- Outgoing and friendly personality. Willing to learn and travel.
- Strong written, oral communication and organization skills and proficiency in technology.
- Proficiency with Google workspace and Monday Sales CRM are preferred.
- Willing to travel out of the region using all modes of transportation; travel can include nights and weekends.
- Must have a valid license and/or passport.
This position is office based in Lake Placid at the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism.
