No, America 250 also celebrates the Adirondacks’ leadership and pioneering contributions over the past 250 years. From being the first protected wilderness area in the U.S. to the birthplace of the American vacation, the region has shaped conservation, tourism, and outdoor recreation. The Adirondacks set the standard for environmental stewardship and continue to impact the nation’s progress. This celebration offers businesses and communities the chance to highlight their connection to this rich history.
While promotions, events, and programming are already underway, the first major milestone in the Adirondacks will take place May 9-11, 2025, with the commemoration of the Capture of Fort Ticonderoga (May 1775).
